Coinbase put the kibosh Monday on rampant speculation it will add ripple (XRP) to its exchange. In a tweet, Coinbase said it had made no decision to add additional assets to either GDAX or Coinbase. “Any statement to the contrary is untrue and not authorized by the company,” the tweet said.

The cryptocurrency slid to 96 cents following the tweet. Earlier on Monday, it had spiked as high as $1.08.

Ripple could see more gyrations Tuesday. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Coinbase President Asiff Hirji are slated to join CNBC‘s “Fast Money” panel at 5 p.m. EST. TechCrunch reports that excitement over their appearance likely was the cause of Monday morning’s ripple rally. Read more here.
