Technology including blockchain may create new forms of investments that could gradually replace stocks and bonds, according to a survey released Monday by Citi’s Business Advisory Services. Titled “Industry Revolution – Investment Management in 2033, Part 1: The New Building Blocks,” the survey sought input from innovation chiefs at large investment firms, fintech-focused venture capital organizations, emerging companies and academics. It says registered investment tokens that embed smart contracts into a blockchain that harnesses artificial intelligence and big data technology could solved existing problems related to the structure of capital markets.
