A unit of Ford has been awarded a U.S. patent for a system that would allow cars to communicate with one another in order to reduce traffic. The system would rely on tokens. Ford Global Technologies filed the patent for “Vehicle-to-vehicle cooperation to marshal traffic.” In some examples of the system Ford envisions, participating vehicles would voluntarily occupy slower lanes of traffic to allow other cars to merge and pass freely in order to have a faster trip. Drivers of the slower cars would receive cryptocurrency units from the drivers of the faster vehicles. Read more here.
