Walmart is getting its suppliers to put food data on the blockchain, Bloomberg reported Monday. The retail giant’s goals in using blockchain to track produce are reducing waste, better managing contamination cases and improving transparency, the news outlet said. Walmart, which started running tests with IBM’s blockchain platform in 2016, is ready to use the technology on its live food business, Frank Yiannas, vice president of food safety and health, said.
