When the leader of the world’s second-largest economy speaks about blockchain, the world pays attention.

Addressing this week’s annual Chinese Academy of Sciences conference, President Xi Jinping hailed blockchain technology as one of many things, including the internet of things and artificial intelligence, that is “accelerating breakthrough applications,” CNBC reported Wednesday, quoting a report by the Xinhua news agency.

Despite many of Beijing’s official actions, including a ban on sales of new digital tokens and halt on bitcoin (BTC) trading, the country remains a hub of activity for blockchain development. Read more here.
