You do almost everything on your iPhone. But now you won’t be able to do any cryptocurrency mining on it because Apple has updated its developer guidelines to ban the practice.

The new rules restrict apps that drain the battery, generate excessive heat or put unnecessary strain on your device, all of which can take place when mining bitcoin (BTC), reports CNBC.

According to Apple’s website, “Apps, including any third-party advertisements displayed within them, may not run unrelated background processes, such as cryptocurrency mining.”

That means even if your phone wasn’t powerful enough to mine bitcoin anyway, Apple’s move could also stop less-energy-intensive digital currencies from being mined or halt the pooling of multiple devices to complete a trade. Read more here.
