Ready for the return of Pikachu and friends? Software engineer João Almeida has created Poketoshi, a platform that lets you play Nintendo’s “Pokémon” game via the Lightning Network. The game is hosted on live-stream video platform Twitch.

In Poketoshi, the game commands are entered through a Lightning-enabled virtual controller. However, according to The Next Web, Lightning Network doesn’t make the user-experience of playing the game any better. The intent of putting the game on Lightning is to show how transactions over the Lightning Network can be made faster and cheaper.

Lightning Network is an additional layer that sits on top of a cryptocurrency’s blockchain. The network’s total capacity went above $150,000 in April. Read more here.
