HTC was banking on its blockchain-powered Exodus phone to boost sagging sales, but things have not gone exactly as planned.
Back in May, during the Consensus conference, the phone maker announced Exodus would allow users to hold their own keys and own their own identities and data. The identity part is not going to happen — at least not yet. Now, Exodus will include a cryptocurrency wallet and, wait for it, CryptoKitties.
HTC co-founder Phil Chen told The Verge he “hopes to find a more efficient way to mine cryptocurrency on mobile” and will do so by consulting with HTC’s in-house “experts.” The company is already studying different consensus protocols and may release a white paper this year with more details, Chen said.
