Traveling on Singapore Airlines? Don’t forget your wallet.
The carrier has launched what it says is the world’s first blockchain-based airline loyalty digital wallet, with software co-developed by Microsoft and KPMG Digital Village, according to the airline’s press release.
“KrisPay,” which takes its name from the airline’s KrisFlyer frequent-flyer program, converts miles into digitized KrisPay miles that can be used to pay for retail purchases via a mobile app. The airline says the wallet is currently accepted at 18 merchants across Singapore, with more merchants to be added.
