Uber shook up the livery industry. Now its former chief technology officer is one of whose behind a startup that will offer commission-free cryptocurrency trading in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the new company’s press release.
Voyager will offer no-fee trades of at least 15 different cryptocurrencies including bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH). The move will put the company in competition with Robinhood, the stock trading app that also currently allows fee-free trading in five cryptocurrencies.
Involved with the startup are Oscar Salazar, the former Uber CTO who is now Voyager’s chief main tech adviser, and Stephen Ehrlich, who once ran the professional trading arm of online stock broker E*Trade and is now Voyager’s CEO.
According to Fortune, Voyager will aggregate cryptocurrency prices across more than a dozen trading venues, which will allow customers to buy and sell digital assets at the best value available among them. Read more here.
