The government of Catalonia, the autonomous Spanish region that includes Barcelona, is working on blockchain technology “with the aim of improving digital services to the public and promoting the potential of this technology between the Administration, companies and the citizen[s],” according to its press release.

The release, cited in a Cointelegraph report, adds that Catalonia’s Department of Digital Policies must develop a plan for incorporating blockchain technology in all areas of the public administration’s activities by the end of December 2018.

Perhaps Catalonia can learn from what Barcelona is already doing with its Barcelona Tech City, a nonprofit consortium of Spain’s top corporations, startups and innovators, which is creating a space dedicated to blockchain technology development. Read more here.
