An Ohio Republican has invited a number of big investors in cryptocurrency as well as nonprofits and lobbyists to Washington for a September meeting to discuss what they want to see in the way of regulation, specifically on initial coin offerings.
Rep. Warren Davidson has invited to his Sept. 25 “forum” a host of familiar names including venture capital firms Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures, exchanges Intercontinental Exchange and Nasdaq, and digital token and securities companies including Ripple, among many others, according to Axios, which got hold of the invitation and guest list.
The topic, says the invite, will be creating “light-touch” ICO regulation, presumably the subject of a bill Davidson could be filing after Sept. 25. Considering the lack of clarity on regulation outside of the SEC chairman’s statements that most ICOs are securities, the industry will likely attend in droves. Read more here.
