Imagine an insurance claim paid automatically by the company. That’s the object of a six-month test in Singapore involving pregnant woman at risk for gestational diabetes.
MetLife announced the test of its product, Vitana, through its Singapore-based LumenLab. In Singapore, one out of five expectant mothers will be affected by gestational diabetes. According to MetLife, Vitana “securely connects to customers’ electronic medical records via their mobile device to issue a policy within minutes. It triggers an automatic payout upon diagnosis, without the need to make a claim.”
The Vitana app can be downloaded. Users will receive up to SGD2,500, or about $1,800, in coverage for their medical expenses associated with gestational diabetes. LumenLab is working with the Singapore Medical Group Women’s Health and other clinics.
