Blockchain “has the potential to transform the functioning of a wide range of industries,” according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, which was founded nearly 60 years ago to stimulate economic progress and world trade.

That’s why the international group is holding a blockchain policy forum Sept. 4-5 at its Paris headquarters, according to a statement on its site. The forum will focus on such big-picture topics as blockchain’s potential global economic impact, its implications for privacy and cybersecurity, how it can be used to promote sustainability and how to strengthen governance and enforcement practices.
