When it comes to professional sports teams, sponsorship contracts for a company to become the “official” anything is an important source of revenue for the team and a marketing tool for the sponsor.
So it should come as little surprise that in the digital age Liverpool Football Club, created in 1892, has signed up an “Official Foreign Exchange Trading Partner.”
That would be TigerWit, a U.K.-headquartered global financial technology company that recently launched a blockchain-based trading app.
According to its press release, TigerWit expects the deal will inspire all those Liverpool supporters in the U.K., the rest of Europe and Asia to download its blockchain-based trading app and start wheeling and dealing in foreign exchange, indices, commodities and metals online.
TigerWit CEO Tim Hughes said the app’s blockchain-based settlement system instills trust by delivering greater security and process efficiency.
