The Gemini Trust Company, co-founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, said in a press release the “custodied digital assets” traded on its cryptocurrency exchange are getting additional insurance coverage through a global consortium of insurers arranged by broker Aon. These include “a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions.”

According to the release, Gemini got the coverage after proving to the underwriters that it “is a leading, best-in-class exchange and custodian.” Gemini’s dollar deposits are also insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

“Consumers are looking for the same levels of insured protection they’re used to being afforded by traditional financial institutions,” said Yusuf Hussain, Gemini’s head of risk, in the release.
