Ripple hired away Google’s lead executive behind its enhanced wireless messaging system to be vice president of products. Amir Sarhangi will now be the point guy on developing Ripple’s RippleNet cross-border global payment system.
According to Reuters, Sarhangi joined Google in 2015 after it bought Jibe Mobile, a startup he founded that developed technology for wireless carriers to adopt rich communication services, a more high-tech messaging protocol.
Ripple has several blockchain-based payments system aimed at providing real-time settlement to banks and other financial institutions. These will all be part of RippleNet.
