Bitmain is suing an anonymous cryptocurrency thief in a federal court in Seattle, seeking damages and a jury trial.
The maker of crypto-mining hardware alleges the unidentified thief, called “John Doe” in its filing, stole 617 bitcoin (BTC) from an account it holds at crypto exchange Binance. On April 22, the date of the alleged theft, one bitcoin was worth $8,935, so Bitmain says it is owed more than $5.5 million in damages.
CoinDesk reported Binance is not a party to the lawsuit and a lawyer for Bitmain provided no comment. Read more here.
