The high cost of energy has driven many a bitcoin (BTC) miner out of business even as more, sometimes larger, competitors enter. And then there are those reported crypto mining thefts.

Enter Intel. It has received patent approval from the U.S. Patent Office for energy-efficient high-performance bitcoin mining.” 

The U.S. manufacturer of semiconductor chips said in the filing that its proposed “hardware accelerator..using optimized data pathswould cut the energy usage for bitcoin mining by 15 percent by lowering the number of computations required. The resulting chip would also be smaller than those used for bitcoin mining now.
